A Peek Inside a Young Man’s Heart

The following was written by our eighteen year old son. I asked him if I could share it, and he graciously said yes. It’s sweet and touching. I like that it contains ideas that seems to be fading from today’s culture. I love that his heart leans towards doing well and honoring and cherishing a lady. I praise God for the gentleman our son is becoming.

Twenty-Eight Years Later on the 28th

Although my testimony could be summed up with the much loved words “Amazing grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me”, there are more details I like to share. Today, I’d like to share another small part of my story. For some reason, my testimony tends to be a bit long. Maybe it’s because I cherish every single event that led up to coming to know God and those events occurred over years. I’ve yet to write it all down; but I like to share what I can, when I can, to God’s glory.

I never tire of hearing the testimonies of others, for in them are glimpses of the power and work of God. If you have yours posted online and would like to share it, please put the link in a comment below. I would love to read it. […]

Beth Moore Overview & Preview of Simulcast Review Part Two

With the early-bird discounted rate deadline for booking the 2016 Living Proof Live Simulcast fast approaching (November 15), I thought it might be helpful to have a streamline list of the voluminous amount of information regarding the issues surrounding Beth Moore’s ministry, issues that might affect ones decision about booking or not. This list is in no way exhaustive, but it does hit some major points. The information below was gathered carefully and prayerfully over time. This work was not done speedily, shallowly, or flippantly. To me, this is all quite serious. Making this list gives me no joy. My heart weighs heavy with concern. That is my motivation not any dislike for or judgment against Mrs. Moore personally. She appears to be very likable. This is about her teachings. (Acts 17:11) […]

Romance with Jesus: The Bigger Picture

This is a companion post to 2015 Living Proof Live Simulcast Review Part One. I recommend reading that post first to give this information better context. In it I respond to a main teaching given by Beth Moore during the simulcast. It was one of six “mighty makers”. Mighty Maker #1 “The audacity to make an unseen Savior the supreme romance of your life.”
The teaching surrounding this “mighty maker” was a proposal given to us by Mrs. Moore to enter into a supreme romance with Jesus. According to Mrs. Moore, that is what we were created for. The idea of romance with Jesus stuck me as unbiblical right away. I tested it biblically and ended up retaining my first impression. I could have let it go at that point; but I’m the curious type. I wondered if anyone else was teaching this same thing. I opened my browser and started doing some research. […]

2015 Living Proof Live Simulcast Review Part One

This is part one of my review of Beth Moore’s Living Proof Live simulcast that aired on September 12, 2015. It is a follow-up to my posts Evaluating Beth Moore’s Upcoming Live Simulcast and Class on Discernment: Living Proof Live Simulcast. This a review about the teachings presented at the simulcast, not a judgment about Mrs. Moore personally. My purpose is to evaluate the teachings biblically for my sake, for the sake of the women who watched the simulcast, and for the sake of any woman who is interested in these matters. […]

Simulcast Review Update

I have had a couple of inquiries about if and when there would be a follow-up post regarding the Living Proof Live simulcast from September 12, 2015. Since almost two weeks have passed since then, I thought it might be a good idea to give an update here.

After viewing the simulcast, I did decide that I would write a review. There is a lot to cover, and I am being careful in my analysis. It is taking time and my health situation comes into play too, but I do hope to have it ready in a few weeks. Please pray for me as I work towards presenting a fair and thorough review. There are definitely some things worth writing about that I hope to share with you. […]

Class on Discernment: Living Proof Live Simulcast

Beth Moore’s Living Proof Live simulcast is quickly approaching. It is scheduled to air September 12, 2015. Many churches have signed up to participate along with women who will watch from home. If you are one of that number, I invite you to do something as you watch. I invite you to turn the simulcast into a class on discernment. This means, we will use the simulcast to practice the ability to confirm truth and detect error in a Bible message or teaching. Some may feel it is unnecessary to do that with a Beth Moore event since she is so established and well liked as a Bible teacher. I would respond that it is always necessary to be discerning at every event or service where God’s word is taught. It is necessary even when the preacher you’ve sat under for 20 years gets up to preach.

Discernment is so important for our spiritual well-being. It is our Biblical responsibility. (1 John 4:1) The example of the noble-minded Bereans encourages us to do as they did. (Acts 17:10-11) […]

Evaluating Beth Moore’s Upcoming Live Simulcast

I have decided to take another break from my series about submitting in everything to write about something that is time sensitive. It is in regards to the upcoming Living Proof Live Simulcast that is scheduled for September 12, 2015. Beth Moore promises an audacious message. The theme for this year’s simulcast is connected to her new book Audacious. […]

Real Life Areas and Situations For Submitting in Everything

In this post, I am going to present some situations in which submission could occur under the umbrella of “everything.” I’m doing this because specific examples can help clarify what submitting in everything can entail. It can also help reveal any areas we have not yet submitted to our husbands’ leadership.

A Trustworthy Statement

“It is a trustworthy statement: For if we died with Him, we will also live with Him; If we endure, we will also reign with Him; If we deny Him, He also will deny us; If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.” 2 Timothy 2:11-13 .

To be Bitter or to be Grateful

Before I return to my series of posts on submitting in everything, I decided to take an opportunity to share something about life and our daughter’s wedding. The sky was blue, the air was warm, and there were smiles everywhere. The happy couple looked amazing. There were a few glitches during the day, something life has taught us to expect; but that was OK. So much of the day was absolutely beautiful; and more importantly, the Lord was magnified and glorified. It was a precious gift to see Rachel and her new husband begin their new life together in such a meaningful way. You may be wondering that if everything went so well, why is bitterness mentioned in the title of this post. How could it have anything to do with such a wonderful day? […]

Back from Hiatus

A lot has happened since the last time I posted on Chapter 3 Ministries. I’ve been very busy. My whole family has. Our daughter got married and graduated from college; and our son finished his homeschool years, graduating from high school. To make life more interesting, these momentous events corresponded with my husband’s busy season at work. Everything that goes along with these things caused me to take a temporary leave of absence. Well, I’m back. :)

A Temporary Change in Ministry

Back in January of this year, I wrote that 2015 was going to bring some special challenges. So far, things have gone as expected. The first three months have been especially difficult and busy for me and my family. On top of the normal challenges of work, school, and my health; we have also been preparing for a wedding and two graduations in May. Additionally, my husband’s father passed away in March. Needless to say, things have not been easy. But, our Lord is good. His lovingkindnesses never cease and his compassions never fail. (Lamentations 3:22) He has provided strength, comfort, and help for us. I’m thankful for all he provides.

The events of the past three months have affected the amount of time and energy I’ve been able to give Chapter 3 Ministries. […]

His Word or Your Imagination?

His Word or Your Imagination? When we believe that certain things about God are true, but these same things are not confirmed by His word, then they are really just human fancy; and create an erroneous, lesser version of the true God. Know Him through His word.

Learning From the Pens of Dead Men

There is a treasure in the church that I hope you have discovered and are enjoying. I am referring to a large collection of writings by Christian men who no longer walk amongst us. While they were under the sun, they put pen to paper or quill to parchment and produced a body of work that has enriched many Christian lives. I have been and continue to be blessed by these authors, theologians, and pastors and want to highlight them and encourage you to open the chest and dig in if you haven’t yet or keep digging for more if you have. I doubt we will ever see the bottom.

My first glimpse of the treasure came when my husband and I discovered that we had a sizable gap in our knowledge about church history, namely the period of the Reformation. Unable to live with that black hole and filled with curiosity, we began to gather and devour relevant material. […]

Introducing New Feature: Do You Take This Verse?

This post is the launch of a new feature on Chapter 3 Ministries! I’m calling it “Do You Take This Verse?”. The name is a play-on-words that brings together what has been traditionally asked during a marriage ceremony (Do you take this woman/man?) with the idea of living out Bible verses in our marriages. […]
