There are a lot of scary things going on in the world right now. 2020 has managed to pack a decade’s worth of trouble into one year! Of course, scary things have been going on in the world for a long time, and our personal lives are no different. Each day can bring something new to worry about or fear. Life – it isn’t easy. [...]
Rule # 1: Be a good wife according to God’s standards as revealed in the Bible. When you are considering God’s standards as revealed in the Bible, be sure to include all of the Bible verses that apply to godly behavior, not just the verses about marriage. [...]
Quarantined because of COVID-19? On lockdown in your state or country? Can’t go out? Now you know, sort of, what it’s like to be me. Except, I have an eleven year head start. [...]
Ok, I really do not want you to worry about anything, but which Bible that you choose to use for your reading plan and for all of your other Bible reading and study is a very important decision. Choosing a Bible is probably one of the most important decisions we make as Christians. [...]
It is my hope that in sharing this story you might get to know my heart better; but more importantly, it is my prayer that you will be inspired to start your own life of apologetics if you have not yet.
I was happily working on my (long promised) series on the deity of Christ when something came into my inbox that could not be ignored. It was brought to my attention that a ladies’ ministry group, to which I have connections, was going to be drawing from Timothy Keller’s book Prayer: Experiencing Awe and Intimacy with God for a day of prayer event. I picked up his book and ended up writing a review. [...]
“The husband is the head of the wife.” That is a sentence that can evoke strong reactions, especially today. What does it mean that the husband is the head of the wife? How one interprets this verse and other related verses can have significant impact on ones ideas about marriage.
I'm no poet. I know. But I'm going to share what poured out of me recently anyway.

God’s word reveals to us that He values humility. He calls us to it and His Son embodied the greatest demonstration of it. Since Jesus humbled Himself as He did, we should not find it distasteful to do the same. Let’s embrace it and seek to walk humbly in our marriages to the glory of God.
After seeing yet another example of a disturbing lack of biblical discernment and conviction by church leaders who bear the name Christian, I thumbed out a text to our children motivated by a deep desire for them to avoid falling into errors within the church.
You don’t have to hold off raising apologists until you have achieved some level of “apologista” yourself. Start right away with what you do know. Here are some suggestions that can help shape your children into apologists.
It's one week into the new year already! Time to talk about Bible reading plans. Too late? No! Though this post was written in December, I waited till now. I'm hoping it might serve as encouragement that seven days, seven weeks, or seven months after January 1 is not too late to begin or start again if you have gotten off track.
But first, 3 quick Poll questions about Bible reading. [...]
Although my testimony could be summed up with the much loved words “Amazing grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me”, there are more details I like to share. Today, I’d like to share another small part of my story. For some reason, my testimony tends to be a bit long. Maybe it’s because I cherish every single event that led up to coming to know God and those events occurred over years. I’ve yet to write it all down; but I like to share what I can, when I can, to God’s glory.
I never tire of hearing the testimonies of others, for in them are glimpses of the power and work of God. If you have yours posted online and would like to share it, please put the link in a comment below. I would love to read it. [...]
Before I return to my series of posts on submitting in everything, I decided to take an opportunity to share something about life and our daughter’s wedding. The sky was blue, the air was warm, and there were smiles everywhere. The happy couple looked amazing. There were a few glitches during the day, something life has taught us to expect; but that was OK. So much of the day was absolutely beautiful; and more importantly, the Lord was magnified and glorified. It was a precious gift to see Rachel and her new husband begin their new life together in such a meaningful way. You may be wondering that if everything went so well, why is bitterness mentioned in the title of this post. How could it have anything to do with such a wonderful day? [...]
