There are a lot of scary things going on in the world right now. 2020 has managed to pack a decade’s worth of trouble into one year! Of course, scary things have been going on in the world for a long time, and our personal lives are no different. Each day can bring something new to worry about or fear. Life – it isn’t easy. [...]
Do you remember a time when you were overcome by sudden fear? Maybe when you were little and felt that overpowering need to tuck your bare feet under the covers so the scary thing under your bed couldn’t grab them? Or maybe when you were an adult and heard that your son or daughter had[...]
This post is a departure from my planned writing, slow as that writing may be, to share a deep need for prayers. It is a request for prayers about my heath situation. Some of you who have been visiting Chapter 3 Ministries for a while or who know me in real life know that I have been living with a chronic nerve pain condition for many years. [...]
The printed text in our Bibles may look ordinary, but the Scriptures are supernatural. God’s word, a sword like no other, can pierce the division of soul and spirit and judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. That’s supernatural and terrifying and awesome. We serve a holy God and His word is beyond precious. [...]
“Whom have I in heaven but You? And besides You, I desire nothing on earth. My flesh and my heart may fail, But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” Psalm 73:25-26 . Before my flesh fails finally, And I am received to glory, I have come to know a bit[...]

I’ve yet to write it all down; but I like to share what I can, when I can, to God’s glory.
I never tire of hearing the testimonies of others, for in them are glimpses of the power and work of God. If you have yours posted online and would like to share it, please put the link in a comment below. I would love to read it. [...]
Before I return to my series of posts on submitting in everything, I decided to take an opportunity to share something about life and our daughter’s wedding. The sky was blue, the air was warm, and there were smiles everywhere. The happy couple looked amazing. There were a few glitches during the day, something life has taught us to expect; but that was OK. So much of the day was absolutely beautiful; and more importantly, the Lord was magnified and glorified. It was a precious gift to see Rachel and her new husband begin their new life together in such a meaningful way. You may be wondering that if everything went so well, why is bitterness mentioned in the title of this post. How could it have anything to do with such a wonderful day? [...]
Living in New England right now and seeing all that snow-white wonder, it’s impossible not to think about verses that mention snow and our Lord’s might and sovereignty over the weather. “”Have you entered the storehouses of the snow, or have you seen the storehouses of the hail, which I have reserved for the[...]
