There are a lot of scary things going on in the world right now. 2020 has managed to pack a decade’s worth of trouble into one year! Of course, scary things have been going on in the world for a long time, and our personal lives are no different. Each day can bring something new to worry about or fear. Life – it isn’t easy. […]
This is the last lesson in our study! Thank you for joining me on this adventure. Though this is the final lesson, it need not be the end of studying this aspect of our Lord Jesus Christ. There is always more to learn, and we must always seek to grow in our knowledge of Him. (2 Peter 3:18)
In this lesson, we are going to consider some of the incommunicable attributes of God. We will apply them as a sort of litmus test. For if Jesus is God, we would not be surprised to see and would even expect to see incommunicable attributes of God attributed to Him. Does the Bible show that Jesus has attributes like omnipresence, eternality, immutability, and others? We shall soon see.
For our purposes in our study on the deity of Christ, we can use what the Bible reveals about God to help us determine if Jesus is God. For if Jesus is in fact God, then we would expect the biblical record to show works of God done by Him and attributes of God displayed in Him. We would not have to see all of God’s works and attributes in Jesus, but we would expect to see some. So did New Testament writers record that Jesus did the works of God and did they write that He had the attributes of God? Let’s take a look.
Welcome to Lesson 6! This lesson contains a collection of verse sets that I refer to as “the ONLYs”. Each set covers something that is said to be true only of God. Hence the name! We are going to look at six things about God that the Bible tells us only apply to Him. God is God after all. It is right that He is unique! This uniqueness also helps us when we are considering the deity of Christ for if any one of the six things were attributed to Him, that would point to His deity. And if all six were? Simple logic would dictate this conclusion: He is God!
Welcome to Lesson 5 of A Zero Fluff Bible Study on the deity of Christ! We have four more illuminating verse sets in this lesson that demonstrate the deity of Christ. These sets pair verses from the books of Psalms and Zechariah with verses in the New Testament.
Welcome to Lesson 4! This lesson continues with “verses sets” that demonstrate the deity of Christ. As explained in the previous lesson, verse sets are made up of two or more verses that, when read in light of each other, give evidence that Jesus is God. This lesson contains three verse sets that happen to be some of my favorites. They all pair verses from the book of Isaiah with verses in the New Testament. The book of Isaiah has a lot to say about Jesus!
Welcome to Lesson 3 of A Zero Fluff Bible Study on the deity of Christ! This study continues by shifting focus to a second category of verses. Category Two consists of a special collection of “verse sets” that give evidence to the deity of Christ. I remember when I first discovered that the Bible contained these special sets. What joy they brought! I pray that you find them to be just as edifying as I did, and that they lead to praise and worship to the glory of God.
Welcome to Lesson 2 of A Zero Fluff Bible Study on the deity of Christ! This lesson will continue with Section One of our study: singular verses that demonstrate the deity of Christ. Please remember to look the verses up in context, especially if you are unfamiliar with them. Also remember, there is no rush. Take your time so that you can get the most out of the material. Please take a moment to pray, get your Bible, and then let’s begin!
Welcome to Lesson 1 of A Zero Fluff Bible Study on the deity of Christ!
We will begin our study by examining singular verses that demonstrate the deity of Christ. Reading these verses alone (in context of course) shows that Jesus is in fact God. These are primary texts on this topic, for they address the matter clearly and directly. They don’t leave you wondering about the identity of our Lord Jesus Christ.
I invite you to join me and walk through some significant biblical evidence for the deity of Christ to the glory of God.
This will be a Zero fluff study. It’s the only way I know how to offer it. This means it will not be like the many studies, books, and teachings that are geared towards women today that are heavy on fluff and light on sound doctrine. We will dig deeply!
I hope you join me. This study will not disappoint!
Do you remember a time when you were overcome by sudden fear? Maybe when you were little and felt that overpowering need to tuck your bare feet under the covers so the scary thing under your bed couldn’t grab them? Or maybe when you were an adult and heard that …
This post is a departure from my planned writing, slow as that writing may be, to share a deep need for prayers. It is a request for prayers about my heath situation. Some of you who have been visiting Chapter 3 Ministries for a while or who know me in real life know that I have been living with a chronic nerve pain condition for many years. […]
The printed text in our Bibles may look ordinary, but the Scriptures are supernatural. God’s word, a sword like no other, can pierce the division of soul and spirit and judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. That’s supernatural and terrifying and awesome. We serve a holy God and His word is beyond precious. […]
Work towards knowing God more every day as much as possible while on this earth. (Colossians 1:10) Pray for your sight to increase. Know Him in Jesus Christ, for He is the image of the invisible God. (Colossians 1:15)
“Whom have I in heaven but You? And besides You, I desire nothing on earth. My flesh and my heart may fail, But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” Psalm 73:25-26 . Before my flesh fails finally, And I am received to glory, I have …
Although my testimony could be summed up with the much loved words “Amazing grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me”, there are more details I like to share. Today, I’d like to share another small part of my story. For some reason, my testimony tends to be a bit long. Maybe it’s because I cherish every single event that led up to coming to know God and those events occurred over years. I’ve yet to write it all down; but I like to share what I can, when I can, to God’s glory.
I never tire of hearing the testimonies of others, for in them are glimpses of the power and work of God. If you have yours posted online and would like to share it, please put the link in a comment below. I would love to read it. […]
Before I return to my series of posts on submitting in everything, I decided to take an opportunity to share something about life and our daughter’s wedding. The sky was blue, the air was warm, and there were smiles everywhere. The happy couple looked amazing. There were a few glitches during the day, something life has taught us to expect; but that was OK. So much of the day was absolutely beautiful; and more importantly, the Lord was magnified and glorified. It was a precious gift to see Rachel and her new husband begin their new life together in such a meaningful way. You may be wondering that if everything went so well, why is bitterness mentioned in the title of this post. How could it have anything to do with such a wonderful day? […]
Living in New England right now and seeing all that snow-white wonder, it’s impossible not to think about verses that mention snow and our Lord’s might and sovereignty over the weather. “”Have you entered the storehouses of the snow, or have you seen the storehouses of the hail, which …
